The 2nd European Skibike Competition was held in Platka, where about 50 competitors from as many as 11 countries (Germany, Italy, USA, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Greece, Luxembourg, Austria and Croatia) registered.
The organizer of the competition is Skibike Club Croatia, and the biggest driving force behind the realization of this unique project in Croatia is precisely Jure Lučić, who when he assured the people of Croatia last year that we would have a valuable skiing competition, no one believed him and everyone saw the mentioned project as pure utopia .
However, precisely because of his persistence, Platak already had 20 excellent competitors in the first year, and with good organization and media coverage, it was clear that Croatia was getting another valuable international competition on snow.
This year the competition was also supported by many sponsors, the most famous of which is RedBull, which mainly follows many interesting adrenaline sports, and a special thanks of the Skibike Club Croatia goes to the County of Primorje-Gorski Kotar, TZ Kvarner, the Municipality of Čavle, and GSC and its employees, who and this year they prepared the conditions on the track very well.
It should be emphasized that this year this race was run on Radeševo 2, a 1065 m long track marked as a red track.
The international European competition in Skibike pointed out once again the great need to build new and satisfactory accommodation facilities, because both the Small and the Great House are dilapidated buildings from the last century that do not meet the needs of modern tourism.
This year, due to weather conditions and injuries, a smaller number of competitors gave up, but the best remained, so the competition was held in two categories, in the Skibike category and in the Skibob category. The Skibob category is separate from Skibike because it involves much higher speeds, considering that Skibob competitors ride Skibikes, but with skis on their feet.
In the Skibike category, the results were as follows:
1. Rob Nichols (USA)
2. Sebastian Bichler (Austria) – last year's winner
3. Gregor Schuster (Austria)
In the Skibob category:
1. Gerfried Seeber (Croatia)
2. Marc Frapporti (Luxembourg)
3. Silvia Steininger (Germany)
