Goran sports center press release
Director of the Goran Sports Center Delnice Alen Udovič sent a statement to the media about the incident that happened last weekend in Platka, which we are transcribing in its entirety:
- Past record weekend in Platka unfortunately it ended with an incident in which several people were injured. The investigation is ongoing, and the GSC management contacted the injured immediately after receiving the report. Unfortunately, we are talking about our associates and partners with whom we are otherwise in constant, I can say daily, communication.
Regardless of who it is and the circumstances under which the incident took place, the GSC and I personally strongly condemn any form of violence, especially at a ski resort like Platak, where families with children and people eager to enjoy skiing and entertainment gather. After the record-breaking weekend we had on Sunday, instead of satisfaction, a feeling of bitterness concluded.
Questions are coming to us about what we will do to increase safety at the ski resort. On Platak, there are still signs and barriers at certain locations where drivers have been observed entering the tracks, and as in all other aspects of life, when something unplanned happens, such events affect our decisions and actions, and so will the incident on Platak. influence the decisions of the GSC on further measures to increase protection measures. Barriers or ramps will be installed where possible. However, it should be pointed out that this is an isolated incident that has never happened before, and we hope it will never happen again.
Over the years, it has happened that irresponsible individuals would get stuck with their vehicles on the trail, or traces of someone passing by in a vehicle were noticed, most often through the Pribeniš valley. However, it should be emphasized here that the entry of vehicles onto the track is the smallest problem that occurred. This is about violence that doesn't matter if it happened on a ski slope or anywhere else. Everything happened after the working hours of the ski resort. All those attacked were guests of the restaurant, in their free time.
Unfortunately, it happens to us again that that minority of irresponsible individuals is holding hostage the entire society, that silent majority, which lives in accordance with all laws and respects regulations. Should we give them such power to manage our ski resorts, our lives, our public investments and our leisure time that we shouldn't to carry out in fear of violence or start taking preventive action?
