The first edition of the interesting three-day sports event Galeb Snipe & Ski Race concluded with the awards ceremony, which delighted everyone! As ordered weather conditions for sailing and skiing made it possible to complete the planned program both on Platak and in Kostrena. On Friday evening, two giant slalom races were held on the Radeševo 1 track in Platka, in which about forty skiers and sailors took part, while the two-day regatta for the Snipe (Šljuka) class in Kostrena took part nine mixed crews with 2 crew members each.
The most successful duo in the combination of skiing and sailing were Igor Ružić and Slobodan Velikić, and although with the same total number of points, the Olympians came in second place Bojan Grego and Ida Štimac because in accordance with the propositions of the competition, the points won at the regatta gave the leading duo an advantage. Third position they occupied Marko Marinović and Damir Vranić which are at the same time were and the most successful sailing crew. Behind them, this time, Igor Ružić and Slobodan Velikić were the second-placed crew, while Bojan Grego and Ida Štimac placed third in sailing.
Everyone is in agreement that this manifestation connected the sea and the mountains in the most beautiful way and pointed to the exceptional tourist and sports potential of our blue-green county, where you can ski, sail and enjoy the sea and the sea. A specialty that few places in the world can boast of!
The event was organized by the GALEB Sailing Club, the Rijeka Ski Club and the Goran Sports Center Delnice with the support of the organizers of the Fiumanka regatta, and under the auspices of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Croatian Olympic Committee, the Croatian Tourist Board, the Croatian Ski Association, the Croatian Sailing Association, Municipality of Kostrena, Tourist Boards of Municipality of Kostrena, Municipality of Čavle and TZO Čavle. Support for the event was provided by Jadrolinija and Gitone Kvarner. With thanks to all patrons and sponsors for their support, the organizers believe that they have managed to prove that they can organize such a unique sports event, which they believe will grow further in future editions, gaining mass and quality.
