Ski-biking enthusiasts come to Platak from different parts of the world.
Platak is hosting the fourth international Skibike race, which will be held from February 21 to 23, 2025, included in the World Skibike Cup race. This is an event that will bring the world trends of adrenaline sports closer to visitors to Platak, which combines two disciplines: skiing and cycling.
Everything starts on Friday, February 21st with the arrival of the participants. Training sessions are scheduled for Saturday, followed by race starts at 16 p.m., while The race is expected to end and the results will be announced at 20 p.m. and fun on the track. A freestyle competition and a demo day are planned for Sunday, when everyone interested will be able to try driving with drivers and instructors.
The sports event was announced at a press conference by the Head of the Board for Tourism, Entrepreneurship and Rural Development Alessandra Ban, director of the Goran sports center Ivan Stojanovic, project manager, Kvarner Tourist Board Vlasta Mastrovic and on behalf of the organizers, the president of the Skibike Croatia club Jure Lucic.

"The special importance of this event is to encourage the holding of significant international events outside the main tourist season in a way that encourages the motive of coming and promotes Croatia and the Regional Sports, Recreation and Tourism Center Platak. Competitors, participants and visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy winter joys with a view of the sea, which makes Platak the biggest attraction and one of the most desirable winter destinations in Croatia," emphasized the head of Ban, inviting everyone to come to Platak to support the competitors.
"Platak has found itself alongside Austrian, Swiss and Slovenian ski resorts as a ski bike friendly resort"Through this project, visitors and competitors from different countries spread the word about our Kvarner region and our county, and about the opportunities that Platak has," pointed out Mastrović.
Stojanović emphasized that the Goranski Sports Center follows trends in the world of this growing sport, considering the positioning of Platak on the world map as an attractive destination for this discipline, highlighting the very successful cooperation with the Skibike Club, to which they provide organizational support.
"This year we decided to do something that has never been done before, which is a night race. So far we have 30 competitors registered from different countries – Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Greece and the USA," said Lučić.
